For me, art is a bridge: between people, between realism and abstraction, between what we see and what we mindfully and consciously feel.

Artist Statement
The depth of the moment: realism meets abstract resonance
My art is an invitation to get lost in the fine spaces between realism and abstraction. The human figure, the portrait and the North German landscape form the starting point of my work, but it is the attentiveness to the moment that drives me.
When a motif touches me, a dialog begins between perception and color, intuition and technique. My attention is focused on the positive and I consciously choose the joyful facets of life, which become the central theme of my painting.
Using oil paints, which are known for their suppleness and color brilliance, I carefully explore the balance between structure and gentle transitions. I use the medium in such a way that it produces both tangible forms and abstract textures. I am not interested in an exact reproduction of reality, but in the thoughtful creation of a space in which new perspectives can emerge.
My works encourage people to look at people and nature without judgment and to appreciate the beauty of the everyday. I dream of a world in which art promotes understanding for one another - a place where openness, empathy and conscious appreciation thrive. In my work, I want to make these values tangible by inviting viewers to look deeper and connect with the positive and powerful aspects of each moment.
For me, art is a bridge: between people, between realism and abstraction, between what we see and what we mindfully and consciously feel.
One brushstroke changes everything:
How Kerstin Sager found her true calling
Sometimes it takes turning points in life to find your true calling. For Kerstin Sager, it was the moment when she swapped her tennis racket for a brush and paint. Born in 1966 and deeply rooted in the northern German countryside, she was at home in sport for a long time until shoulder problems forced her to break new ground. What initially seemed to be a limitation became an unexpected enrichment: she discovered painting and with it an expression that focused her love of aesthetics and color. An adult education course with an inspiring teacher laid the foundations for a passion that quickly became the central force in her life.

Driven by curiosity and the desire to perfect her technique, Kerstin devoted herself to realistic painting with great dedication. She was particularly drawn to portraits - partly because of the challenge, but also because of her fascination with the diversity of human emotions. Her works combine detailed representation with a pinch of abstraction: textures, impasto applications of paint and cold wax techniques lend her paintings a special depth. Whether faces, human figures or the vast landscapes of her homeland - each painting tells of her deep connection to her surroundings and the people who inspire her.
Today, Kerstin Sager lives and works in Langballig on the Flensburg Fjord. Her works, characterized by North German clarity and colourful intensity, are becoming increasingly popular with art lovers. With exhibitions in Germany and Denmark as well as international awards, she has built up a growing following. Her art stands for beauty and the interplay of precision and emotion - an expression of her life motto to celebrate aesthetics
